National day against food waste

 

Next 5 February 5 it will be the  National Day against Food Waste, celebrated for the first time in Italy in 2014, that aims to raise awareness and empower citizens-consumers.
If we do not jointly address the problems of food waste, the transformation of diets, reducing meat consumption , and the way we produce and process food, in 2050, only 3.4 billion people out of 10.2 billion will have the capacity to supply themself, with healthy, sustainable and balanced food (2,355 kcal per person per day). On a global scale, over a third of the food produced is wasted; on a national scale, the figure reaches 50%
