Food Sovereignty Day in Ecuador: Embassy of Italy together with ISPRA for a workshop on food security
Ecuador is celebrating today 13 October the day of food sovereignty. For the occasion, the Italian Embassy in Ecuador is organizing a workshop together with ISPRA to debate the topic of food safety.

The event was promoted by COPISA (Pluri-National and Intercultural Conference on Food Sovereignty) and will take place face to face and online at the Auditorium of the Ministry of Agriculture in Ecuador. COPISA is an organization established to influence the construction and implementation of public policies, in which delegates from the Ecuadorian Ministry of Agriculture and the Environment also participate. COPISA promotes a broad process of dialogue, coordination and articulation between civil society and the state. Representatives include civil society, universities, research centers, consumers, small and medium-sized producers, farmers and breeders, the association of fishermen, aquaculture and Afro-Ecuadorian indigenous people. Among the main functions attributed to COPISA also that of training and continuing education activities relating to the regime of food sovereignty, health and nutrition, through workshops, forums and seminars.
In addition to ISPRA, the Italian Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies (MIPAAF) will enrich the Panel of Italian experts to talk about organic farming in Italy and Coldiretti Bio, the national association of organic and biodynamic by Coldiretti, to also bring the point of view of Italian companies. ISPRA will intervene to talk about the sustainability of Italian agriculture, illustrating facts and figures of the best Italian successful practices.
