“Green wire for a sustainable Jubilee” the SNPA events to reflect on ecology, science and faith

In March, on the occasion of World Water Day will start the initative “Green wire for a sustainable Jubilee"  with the first three regional events organized by Arpa Friuli Venezia Giulia, Arpa Liguria and Arpa Umbria (which will start as early as March 20th). This is a series of events which, involving the entire Italian territory at a regional level and, finally, at a national level, with  meetings, seminars, nature trails and city celebrations.

The initiative, which takes place throughout 2025, sees the implementation of communication and awareness-raising activities by individual Arpa/Appa, in agreement with the local dioceses, involving environmental issues and those of faith, ecology, science and religion. The ideal framework for these initiatives, the SNPA wanted to refer to the 2025 Jubilee journey, in ideal union with the "pilgrims of hope".

From north to south, from the sea to the mountains, every territorial reality that is part of the national system for environmental protection is involved in spaces for reflection, insights into peace and creation, the environmental and economic sustainability of our choices, the spiritual and ecological growth of young people.

The final meeting in Rome, then, will bring together an in-depth and authoritative reflection around the topic of "Environment and Creation", which takes inspiration from the apostolic exhortation Laudate Deum and the encyclical Laudato si' of Pope Francis as an opportunity to cross-reference the reasoning with what emerges from scientific research, from policies, from the perception of citizens and in particular of boys and girls, regarding the globality of human actions in the ecological context and of faith.

“The hope –  has declared Stefano Laporta, president of ISPRA and SNPA – is that with this widespread initiative on the Italian territory, local communities, citizens, institutions, experts, religious people, students, can feel involved in a broader reflection on the presence of man on earth, on the link between nature and the sense of the sacred, between spirituality and awareness of the importance of science. I thank the Arpa/Appa and in general all the women and men who are part of the SNPA, for having given life to the many regional initiatives, which are summarized in a dense agenda of appointments, strong in a sense of belonging and sharing of values within the national system for the protection of the environment, to which we will give the right culmination with an initiative in Rome at the end of October which will see the presence of both the Minister of the Environment Gilberto Pichetto Fratin and Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, with the participation of leading names and personalities from science and research".
