New Publication

The document describes the National System for the preparation of National Inventory for emissions into atmosphere. This system, required under the Kyoto Protocol, was established at a national level by Legislative Decree 51/2008. As stated in the decree, ISPRA is responsible for the implementation of the National Inventory and updating of the National System document which describes the system used under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Monitoring Mechanism of Greenhouse Gases of the European Union and the Kyoto Protocol. The document outlines the roles and responsibilities of institutional bodies involved in the preparation, the main sources of information, systems and procedures for quality control inventory as well as the national law reference. This document is reported annually by the ISPRA to the Italian Ministry for the Environment and the Protection of Land and Sea together with emissions estimates and documentation describing the estimating methodologies and the trends of the historical emission series.
