As part of the cycle of conferences "Sea and lagoon fishermen", the next meeting "The Adriatic between over-exploitation of resources and plastic pollution" will be held on 13 February in Venice.
The Adriatic, with more than half of the national fish production, is the main Italian fishing basin, but it is also the most drawn-out basin in the world. The main commercial fish stocks show a marked state of overexploitation, which various european initiatives seek to remedy.
The large amount of fresh water contribute to increase the productivity of this ecosystem, but at the same time they are responsible for various forms of pollution. For exaple plastics pollution, which appears widespread and consistent, has become a global topical issue. Fishermen and researchers can team up to tackle these issues together.
An Ispra expert will lead the conference
