Side scan sonar
Another essential tool for oceanographic research, and especially for marine geophysics, is the side scan sonar. This tool allows you to understand if the seabed is hard or mobile, and if it is mobile, to define the type of sediment (muddy or sandy). It becomes essential when the multibeam fails to return a high quality data and allows you to work on a detail of about 20 centimeters
