Municipal Waste Report - edition 2024

The Municipal Waste Report is the result of complex effort of data collection, analysis and processing by ISPRA's National Waste and Circular Economy Centre, with the support of regional and provincial Environmental Protection Agencies. Its purpose is to provide an objective, timely and constantly updated information framework to support legislators in orienting appropriate policies and interventions, monitoring their effectiveness, and introducing corrective measures if necessary.

The Atlas of environmental data, a volume that ISPRA publishes in this new edition, which offers an overview and a selection of the main environmental data in Italy. It provides cartographic representations that show the distribution of the main environmental information on the territory which, together with graphs, tables and texts, illustrate the situation of our country.

The Atlas of environmental data, a volume that ISPRA publishes for the first time, offers an overview of the main environmental data. It provides cartographic representations showing the spatial distribution of the main environmental information which, together with graphs, tables and texts, illustrate the state of the entire national territory.

The Edition 2022 of the Municipal Waste Report provides data (reference year 2021) concerning municipal waste generation, separate collection and management at national, regional and provincial level as well as data on import/export of municipal waste.

Study on municipal waste prevention measures adopted by municipalities

The Report presents a study on the measures to prevent the production of urban waste adopted by local administrations to which a specific questionnaire prepared by ISPRA. This questionnaire is divided into 20 questions elaborated in the light of the measures established for the new National Waste Prevention Program by art. 180 of Legislative Decree 152/06 (amended by Legislative Decree 116/2020).
