At a meeting of the EU Environment Ministers in Hungary in March 2011, under the discussion on Integrated Management of Extreme Hydrological Events, it was recommended that a coordinated implementation of the FD and WFD should be promoted in order to maximise synergies. This workshop intends to help promote the achievement of this recommendation by presenting and discussing methods, experiences and operative tools for implementing and coordinating both FD and WFD directives. For this purpose it is important to take into account what said in the Technical Report “Links between the Floods Directive (FD 2007/60/EC) and Water Framework Directive (WFD 2000/60/EC)”, with particular regard to the opportunity of links related to the development of measures to be put into the management plans envisaged by the two Directives and sharing the same December 2015 deadline.
