With the development of processing techniques based on big data and artificial intelligence, it is possible to exploit the new observation capacities made available by the European Copernicus program to monitor natural ecosystems and support the environment. A laboratory for the experimentation of environmental surveillance methods with drone / satellite will be presented in the Presidential Estate of Castelporziano.

ISPRA has developed a service that is able to characterize the distribution of Italian forest resources and monitor their variations over time and the phenomena of degradation due to fires and land consumption. Its characteristics and results are illustrated for the period 2019-2020. the. All the applications presented are linked by a common analysis methodology, by the development of technologically advanced methods and means of work and by the growth of new professional figures in the field of environmental protection.
