The event deals with water ecotoxicology and follows up two
seminars organised by the ISPRA Nature Protection Department,
specifically by the Bioindicators and Ecotoxicology Section,
entitled "Bioindicators and ecotoxicology of soil and other matrix:
research and application" (January 16-17) and "Biodiversity of the
Italian soil: indicators and applications toward a national
legislation" (May 22).
The importance of the water matrix ecotoxicological essays has been
recognized and is applied in several fields: sewage, landfill
leachate, surface waters, drinking waters, marine-coastal waters,
transition waters.
The meeting aims at taking stock of the complex and constantly
evolving legislative scenario, focusing on the critical areas and
analysing ecotoxicological indicators and methods currently not
introduced in the present legislation.
