The transport of desert powders is a global phenomenon. For countries located downwind of arid regions, dust transported over long distances can significantly increase atmospheric particulate levels, posing serious risks to the environment and human health.

The event is organized thanks to the COST Action InDustThe workshop aims to bring together the different actors interested in evaluating the mineral dust impacts on air quality over Europe, establishing a direct communication between the stakeholders and scientific communities. The currently available methodologies will be discussed to quantitatively report on contributions of this natural source to ambient PM levels in Europe in compliance with the EU Air Quality Directive
