World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought
The world day promoted by United Nations to combat against desertification and drought is celebrated every June 17, with the aim to make people aware on the international efforts to fight the desertification and its effects, and that it's needed an strong involvement of the community and cooperation at any levels. This year the theme for the World Day of Desertification and Drought is (Food-Feed-Fiber) with the aim of raising public awareness of those unsustainable forms of production and consumption that contribute to soil degradation and consumption of water resources.

The main event for the celebration of the day, hosted this year by the Korea Forest Service (KFS), like many other events scheduled following the Covid-19 pandemic, will be done in a video conference with a program full of interesting topics with the presence of leaders of United Nations organizations, live on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.
As a part of the event organized by Italy, the web meeting "Water and Asinara. Present and future of water resources" will be held on 17 June, followed by "SDG 30 - vs COVID-19. Opportunities to combat desertification", which will be attended by an Ispra expert.
