The Multi-Angle Imager for Aerosols (MAIA) is a NASA mission currently under development, devised in collaboration with epidemiologists and health organizations, designed to produce data used in health studies to examine the effects of various types of air pollution. NASA and ASI are discussing a possible Italian involvement in the development of the MAIA mission, which could give rise to cooperation between the United States and Italy.
MAIA's main purpose is to study how the different types of particulate matter present in the atmosphere affect human health.
