The National Platform on Adaptation to Climate Change has been published

The Italian platform on adaptation to climate change, promoted by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and implemented by ISPRA, aims to favor the exchange of information between the central administration, local authorities and all stakeholders, starting from citizens, with respect to the theme of adaptation to climate change, thus representing the main information tool in Italy on this issue.

The effects of climate change in Italy: adaptation strategies and the role of insurance companies

The Bank of Italy and IVASS, in cooperation with the Venice World Capital of Sustainability Foundation, are organizing a conference on: "The effects of climate change in Italy: adaptation strategies and the role of insurance companies". After an analisis at the challenges related to climate change, the interventions will deepen the possible adaptation and mitigation strategies of identifiable risks in the insurance sector.

Pandemics, climate change and environmental crises demonstrate how much we need new outlooks on the present and new visions for the future. And, therefore, how much we need to explore, starting from what we know and opening up to what we don't know. The Rome Science Festival is the ideal context to analyze the various themes, meet different people and disciplines, because it offers a rich variety of events. In the seventeenth edition of the Festival we will talk about exploration in all areas of science, including new frontiers of art, photography, literature, with a curious look on all aspects of contemporaneity.

Envirornmental data Yearbook 2021

The Yearbook in figures is aimed at citizens, experts, researchers and policy makers. It is a statistical publication which briefly shows a selection of the most representative indicators of the “Indicators Platform” in a rigorous scientific way but addressing at the same time to a broader audience. The document consists of an index, a short introduction to the thematic area, a list of indicators chosen to represent the area and an indicators’ overview.  

Sustainable mobility in the city? Not really. In Europe, the use of private vehicles continues to grow (by 2020, 250 million cars)

ISPRA presents “Sustainable mobility in urban areas: The current situation and future prospects”. In Italy, the national car fleet is growing steadily: at the end of 2021 the record quota of almost 40 million cars was reached (Source ACI). The car continues to be perceived as an indispensable asset, which is always the first choice for traveling home / school or home / work. The Italian situation is not an exception in Europe: all 27 states have seen their car fleet grow over time with the exception of Bulgaria. In the old continent, 250 million were in circulation at the end of 2020.

Exercise in Calabria for tsunami risk management

ISPRA experts were invited to contribute, with their technical-scientific knowledge, to the two days of work that took place in the Municipality of Bagnara Calabra, as part of the EXE Sisma dello Stretto exercise, organized to deepen the theme of tsunami alert and the necessary management and mitigation measures for this natural risk.

Second edition on City Conference on Agriculture

The Conference will bring together all the actors involved in the project to revive the agricultural vocation of the municipality of Rome, one of the largest in Europe. The rural heritage, in the years of ecological transition, must be valued to contribute to the economic growth of the city and provide a response to the ongoing climate crisis. Faced with the challenges of our time for the circular economy, environmental protection and a more equitable society, agriculture plays a leading role in the evolution of the city.

World Tsunami Awareness Day

On 5 November of each year, on input from the United Nations which established it in 2015, the day of awareness raising and awareness of the risk posed by tsunamis is celebrated. These are quite rare natural events but with disastrous impacts for men and things. This year Tsunami Awareness Day is focused on Goal G of the Sendai Framework which provides for greater availability of early warning systems in the event of possible disasters and easier access to such information systems essential to save lives.

EcoAtl@nte, maps and data with a click

A new way to learn to "read" maps and data, to discover our territory. The project "At school for the environment with  EcoAtl@nte , organized by ISPRA, offers a series of workshops aimed at high school students. The lessons, both theoretical and practical, will see the involvement of the participants through the use of a series of thematic maps contained in the new interactive platform created by ISPRA. A training course that helps to know and read territorial data, to understand the environmental challenges of our time.
