Bird ringing for scientific purposes: the first ISPRA course for aspiring ringers is underway

11-16 and 17-21 September
The first training course for ringers organized by ISPRA began on 11 September, in collaboration with the Emilia Romagna Po Delta Regional Park and with the logistical support of the Renana Land Reclamation Consortium and the Municipality of Argenta.

The course is aimed at those who have already completed a large part of the mandatory training course with their respective tutors (expert ringers). Participants will take part in theoretical lessons and practical capture and ringing sessions which will take place at the historic ringing station of the Campotto Oasis in Argenta (FE).

In fact, already in 1986, the first meetings were held here which would have contributed significantly to forming the first historical nucleus of Italian ringers.

Today, more than 35 years later, the collaboration between ISPRA and the Po Delta Park is renewed to offer the opportunity for training with expert ringers and ornithologists and to develop the techniques for studying avifauna with particular regard to ringing for scientific purposes.

On this occasion, the installation works of the new floating walkway created by ISPRA and the Park will be completed.
