28 May The conclusion of the Conference on Biodiversity occured in the presence of the Italian President Giorgio Napolitano. The National Strategy for Biodiversity was presented. The Minister for the Environment Prestigiacomo announced a framework law that redefines the system of protected areas, starting from the general protection of biodiversity. During the Conference nine "Ambassadors of biodiversity have been awarded.
