The waste issue in the Mediterranean is becoming urgent and is producing irreversible damages to the marine ecosystem, biodiversity and the economy. This is proved by the research of Goletta Verde of Legambiente about the presence of plastic in Italian sea, a survey monitored 1,500 nautical miles, the screening of waste in more than 50 Mediterranean beaches and 10 samples regarding the presence of microplastics in the sea. At the meeting will participate ISPRA experts who contributed to the research.
