Within the framework of the World Forum on Urban Forests, the Committee for the development of public green space - to which ISPRA provides support - organizes the side event "Urban Forests in the National Strategy of Urban Green"
The National Strategy for Urban Green Space, which was recently adopted by the Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea Protection, nvolves all Italian Municipalities, starting from metropolitan areas. The Strategy foresees planning of wide urban forests that should be consistent with the specific environmental and landscape features of each site. In addition to the long-acknowledged aesthetic and recreational value, it assigns to urban forests a central role as providers of goods and ecosystem services that are essential for human welfare and climate change mitigation.
