The global deforestation issue is perceived as
the one of the most severe. The timber cut and commercialization is
only one and not always the main causes of the deforestation, but
surely the one direcly related to the consumer and western
companies liability. The Department of Territory and Agro-forestal
System (DITESAF) of the University of Padova will carry out a
research, on APAT request, into "Deforestation and forest
degradation: the responsibilities and Italian intervention fields.
One of the seminar aims is to consult the Italian institution,
category association and non governmental organization
representatives, in order to evaluate policy hypothesis to fight
the illegal deforestation and timber commercialization in
Italy.
