Overall evaluation

Once the single indexes (Ecological value, Ecological sensibility, human pressure) are calculated, it is possible to calculate an overall index that shows the level of risk of ecological-environmental degradation for each landscape physiographic unit.
This index, named "Environmental Profile", summarizes in a single index the Ecological value, the Environmental sensibilty and the Human pressure.

The calculation methodology is similar to the one used for the other indexes (which in this case assume the role of indicators in the model) and is divided into the following steps:

1) normalization of the single indicators;

2) calculation of the so-called "C index" through the ideal point method. The "C index" allows to evaluate each landscape physiographic unit on the basis of its ecological condition, according to a scale of values related to the studied area (regional or national).
