IdroGEO: with "Report the landslide" an acceleration of information on the risk of collapse

Report the landslide” aims to make communications between Municipalities and Regions easier and faster, to immediately have the complete picture of landslide events in a given area available. The new functionality of the national IdroGEO platform, presented on 11 December by ISPRA in Genoa, on the occasion of the meeting organized with ANCI and the Liguria Region, allows local administrations and professionals to report to the regional technical structures, even with a simple smartphone , the new landslides that occurred in the area.

The event offered the opportunity to meet and discuss with the Municipalities on the prevention of hydrogeological risk and to test the use of the functionality with the technicians and professionals of the Ligurian territory.

“Report the landslide” contributes to updating the National Inventory of Landslide Phenomena in Italy - IFFI, managed by ISPRA and the Regions and Autonomous Provinces, simplifying and increasing the efficiency and timeliness of data collection, even during inspections. To date, over 635,000 landslides have been registered, 2/3 of European landslides. 28% are extremely rapid phenomena characterized by high destructiveness, often with serious consequences in terms of loss of human lives. Every year there are around a hundred main landslide events that cause victims, injuries, evacuees and damage to buildings, cultural assets and primary communication infrastructures. In this context, knowledge and updating of information on failures are fundamental for effective risk prevention and management policies.
