Environmental education
THIS IS AN ECOLOGICAL BEACH AND YOU ARE PART OF IT!
The activity is part of the "ISPRA Program of environmental and sustainability education initiatives" and uses a cultural approach to nature and the environment, through a reading of reality based on a playful and emotional and non-notional style, mending the cultural bond , emotional and physical with one's territory.
Educational actions aim to:
- knowledge of the natural elements characteristic of Mediterranean beaches, including banquettes;
- knowledge of the Ecological Beach model and active involvement in the monitoring and sustainable management of beaches, also through Citizen
- Science approaches;
creation of an informative video on the topics covered.
Method of developing
The initiative is aimed at lower secondary schools and includes:
- Classroom meeting (2 hours) to provide the first elements of knowledge of the coastal ecosystem and its delicate balance, with particular attention to Posidonia accumulations. Through an interactive lesson and the screening of short videos, the concept of the natural beach and the Ecological Beach model. The meeting will end with “Banquette in game”.
- Educational excursion (4 hours) carried out at the Torre Flavia Marsh Natural Monument, it will be an opportunity to come into direct contact with what was learned in the classroom, visit the places where banquettes are present and learn about the threats and management strategies of these places, engaging in simple operational activities.
- Video competition in which students (in groups of 4-5) will be asked to create a 3-minute video, with the aim of spreading the Ecological Beach model and promoting the development of eco-sustainable seaside tourism. All videos sent will be published on the ISPRA institutional website/ISPRA YouTube channel and a jury of experts will nominate the best and most effective video from a communicative point of view
