Urban nature Plans: tools to bring nature back into our lives?”
The new report “Urban nature Plans: tools to bring nature back into our lives?” – coordinated by ISPRA’s unit on Urban areas focuses on 10 urban green plans (UGPs) with the aim to understand contents and strategies towards more healthy, inclusive and resilient communities. Torino, Vercelli, Bolzano, Padova, Rovigo, Parma, Bologna, Forlì, Livorno, Avellino are the 10 UGPs analysed, from which an integrated vision of the city emerges. A vision where urban green & blue infrastructures (urban parks, peri-urban agricultural areas, rivers, street trees, schoolyards, etc.) become the backbone of an integrated development model where win-win solutions can be envisioned with benefits for both people and nature: the increase of public green with environmental justice, the reduction of soil consumption with climate change adaptation, the recovery of ecological connectivity with the promotion of public health, brownfields regeneration with multifunctional urban agriculture, biodiversity monitoring with citizens’ participation.
