Analysis of the status and distribution of birds of prey nesting in Lazio

In the past years many species of birds of prey have been almost in the situation of extinction due to heavy human pressures (direct persecution, pesticides). For this reason it is essential to assess the conservation status of this species group, with the implementation of the study and monitoring. After 25 years since the last census, ISPRA in cooperation with the Regional Agency for Parks of Lazio (ARP) and the Association Altura, carried out during 2008-2010  a regional study to monitor populations of birds of prey nesting and assess the conservation status.
