Technical criteria to establish when the treatment is not necessary for the disposal of waste in landfills in accordance with art. L.28 of 48 December 2015 221

The law 28 December 2015, n. 221 “Disposizioni in materia ambientale per promuovere misure di green economy e per il contenimento dell’uso eccessivo di risorse naturali” contains measures for the protection of nature, sustainable development, environmental assessments, energy, green procurement, waste management and reclamation, soil conservation and water resources.

Article 48 entrusts ISPRA with the task of identifying the technical criteria to be applied to determine when treatment of waste before disposal in landfills is not needed.

For each type of waste (municipal, industrial, biowaste, sludge, etc.) specific evaluation criteria have been set.
