Waste management in Italian ports
Directive 2000/59/EC pursues the aim on the prevention of pollution by ships focussing on ship operations in European Union ports. According to the Directive and the Italian law n. 182 of 24th June 2003 complying with the Directive, a plan about waste reception and handling ship-generated waste and cargo residues must be drawn up in each port.
In this report, data about waste reception and handling extracted from plans adopted by Italian Port Authorities are reported together with some references about plans adopted by Italian Maritime Authorities classified by geographical region.
