Environmental Data Yearbook 2009 - Key Topics

In the volume "Key topics", the information of the Yearbook is used to evaluate certain situations related to those environmental issues which nowadays are considered the main priorities for the environmental policies. The choice of areas is inspired by the issues covered by the VI Environmental Action Plan of the EU, and the events that marked 2009 as the earthquake in Aquila and the hydrogeological accident in Messina (Environmental risk), the algae issue (Coastal risk) and waste. Particular emphasis was given to issues related to Climate Change and Biodiversity. Already key issue of the last G8 Environment (Syracuse 2009), Climate Change has been the subject of discussion during the work of the Copenhagen summit, while Biodiversity will be the focus of the international debate on the environment in 2010.
