Natural sinkhole phenomena in the Italian plain areas

This monograph reports the first contributions to the research and understanding of sinkholes that have affected some plains of our Country through the description of the general characteristics of the phenomena of sinking, with particular regard to predisposing and triggering factors. It also describes the geomorphological aspects and geological and hydrogeological contexts susceptible to sinkholes.  A brief review of the phenomena of sinkholes popular in various countries of the world and particularly in the United States of America is also described.
