Abstract
Between 2000 and 2011 ISTAT data on the water consumption for domestic use
shows a decrease in consumption of approximately 16,2%.
Among the 85 cities considered by the Report, Viterbo recorded the greater
percentage reduction in water consumption (41,4%) compared to 2000, while
Messina recorded the greater increase (17,6%).
In 2011 Catania consumed more water con 230,3 litres per person per day while
Arezzo (110,4 litres per person per day), consumed less.
Actually, the situation of water supply network loss is critical: ISTAT 2012 data, the
water supply network losses are generalized and range from 10,2% (Milan) to 69,0%
(Campobasso).
