Abstract

Municipal waste generation represents one of the biggest Italian cities pressure

marker taking environmental and economical aspects into account.

The design choices evaluation realized by every single Administration office by means

of the performance achieved through different types of recycling, is extremely

interesting.

The biggest urban centers have generally larger per capita waste generation than the

national and the specific home territories average.

This is undoubtedly true if we consider that urban center waste generation is

necessarily related to tourism and commuting, having a consequent increase of the

so-called “floating population”.

Recycling carries out a top priority duty on the integrate waste management. On one

side it allows to reduce the amount of waste sent to disposal operation and, on the

other side, it positively influences the whole waste management system. Therefore it

allows the saving of raw materials by recycling and recovery.
