Qualità dell’ambiente urbano – XI Rapporto (2015)

ISPRA Stato dell’Ambiente 63/15 pagg. 660 - 719

Abstract

Sustainable urban mobility for the studied 85 cities was analyzed with the indicators

related to supply and demand of TPL (public transport), availability of parking, the size

of the areas with limited circulation, the length of the

cycle ways

and shared mobility

(car sharing and bike sharing).

While the demand for TPL (expressed as use of the TPL) in the years 2008-2014

decreases for the 60% of the cities, not all the supply indicators follow the same

trend: in fact, if the availability of the vehicles and places-km decreases in about 67%

of the cities, the density of networks and the density of the bus-stops increases

respectively in the 53% and in the 60% of the cases.

As for the limited circulation areas, it was observed that the extension of pedestrian

areas is increased in the 54% of urban areas and the size of the ZTLs (Limited Traffic

Zone) increases in the 35% of cases.

The availability of car-park was assessed by the number of parking stalls for a fee and

the number of parking stalls in parking lots of correspondence. Overall the number of

parking spaces increases in the 60% of cases in the period 2008-2013.

The length of cycle ways is increasing in the interval 2008-2013 but the absolute

values are still low, particularly in two areas there were no bike lanes in 2013.

Car-sharing and bike-sharing data show a surge in 2013 compared to 2011, with

higher values in the cities of the North, although the absolute numbers are still very

small: just say that among the 85 municipalities considered only 19 are those where

there is the bike-sharing service.
