Abstract
The survey on transport and mobility in urban areas shows the main indicators of the
vehicle fleet of cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles, extending the analysis to a
further 12 municipalities compared to the previous edition of the Report. As in the
previous one, the Report also contains data on scrapping split by EURO emission
classes and on new registrations of alternative fuels powered cars, hybrid and
electric ones included. This Report edition, in addition to the analysis of the private
car fleet, includes an indicator concerning the global car fleet broken down according
to the use. In the sample of analyzed cities, in 2014 private cars number remained
stable compared to 2013. In the breakdown according to the use, the main items are
"passenger transport" and "car rental without driver". From 2010 to 2014, from
Euro 4 up to Euro 6 emission standard cars rose in all cities, with increases ranging
from 26.4% to 45.5%. From 2011 to 2014, in 75 of the 85 examined municipalities
a growth of cars LPG powered has been detected, whereas from 2013 to 2014
diesel cars showed an increase in all cities except Caserta. From 2010 to 2014 only
8% of municipalities have recorded an increase of over 2,000 cc circulating cars, but
they are about 73% compared to 2007. From 2011 to 2014 the motorcycle fleet
has increased in 60% of analyzed cities, and in 53% of cities from 2013 to 2014;
whereas in the years 2007-2014 it has been mainly increased the part of
motorcycles over 750 cc. As far as light commercial vehicles, it is always high the
percentage of municipalities (96.5%) recording a decline of Euro 0 vehicles between
2011and 2014.
